EU Funded Projects
Determination of the PBL scheme for the numerical weather model of Meteo centar d.o.o.
This project, co-financed by the EU, focused on determining the optimal Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) scheme for our high-resolution WRF-ARW model used in daily operations. Improving the PBL scheme significantly enhances forecast accuracy, especially for complex coastal terrain like the Adriatic.
In collaboration with the University of Zagreb's Department of Geophysics (2020-2022), we tested various PBL schemes against measured data for different Adriatic regions and specific wind events (Bora, Jugo).
The outcome was the selection of the best-performing PBL scheme, increasing model accuracy for end-users like renewable energy developers needing precise data for site planning. This enhances our competitiveness and supports further growth.
