Who we are
Meteocentar (“the app”) is a weather application operated by Meteo centar d.o.o. This policy explains
what data the app processes, why, and your choices.
What we collect and why
- Location (precise, foreground only). When you use “my location”, search, or the
radar approach alerts, your coordinates are used to fetch the forecast/warnings and compute distances.
Coordinates are sent through our proxy to our forecast provider meteoapi.eu to return
the forecast. Only the coordinates are sent — never an identifier that could link them to you — and the
request reaches meteoapi.eu from our server, not your device (so not your IP). From the coordinates
alone it is not possible to determine who you are, or whether they are your current GPS position or a
place you searched for. We do not track your location in the background.
- Your saved data — saved locations, app settings, and any custom-notification
thresholds you create. Stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) under an anonymous account
ID so it persists across launches. No name or email is required to use the app.
- Anonymous account ID (Firebase Authentication) — an automatically-created
anonymous identifier that ties your saved data to your install.
- Crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics) — crash and error reports to fix bugs.
- Purchase data (RevenueCat + Google Play / App Store) — to provide and restore your
Premium subscription. Payment is processed by the app store, not by us; we do not receive card details.
- Push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — only if you opt in to notifications, to
deliver them.
- Advertising (free version only). The app shows ads through Google
AdMob. To serve and personalise ads, Google collects and processes your device's
advertising ID, approximate (IP-based) location, and ad-interaction data, as a third
party. You can reset or opt out of ad personalisation in your device settings (Android:
Settings → Google → Ads). Premium removes all ads.
We do not collect your name, email (the account is anonymous), contacts, photos, or
browsing history, and we do not sell your data.
Third parties / processors
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) —
backend + push.
- meteoapi.eu — forecast/warnings data provider (receives coordinates to return a
forecast).
- Google AdMob — serves and personalises ads in the free version; receives your
advertising ID, approximate location, and ad-interaction data for advertising.
- RevenueCat + Google Play / Apple App Store — subscription processing.
- Weather/warning sources (e.g. national meteorological services, MeteoAlarm, DHMZ) provide the data
shown; they do not receive your personal data.
Legal basis (GDPR / EU)
- App functionality (contract / legitimate interest): location → forecast, saved
data, purchases.
- Legitimate interest: crash diagnostics to keep the app working.
- Consent: notifications (you opt in), the location permission (granted via the OS prompt), and — where the law requires it — consent for personalised ads.
Your rights
- Delete your data anytime, in the app: Settings → Privacy → Delete my
data (removes your saved locations, settings, notifications, and account from our servers).
- Under GDPR you may also request access, correction, or restriction — contact
meteocentar@gmail.com.
Data retention & security
Saved data is kept until you delete it (or your install is removed). Data is encrypted
in transit (HTTPS). Firebase access is restricted to your own anonymous account.
Children
The app is not directed to children and does not ask for your age. Because the account is anonymous,
we do not collect personal data that would identify any user, including children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change. Material changes will be noted in-app.
